​

Proper utilization of water resources including land development and technology transfer to grow maximum possible yields of green vegetables in anemic affected womenfolk of Oraon dominated community. 
 

Objectives 

​

To renovate existing Aahar, water-flow, making of water-grid to rejuvenate the barren land for production of green vegetables with cent percent involvement of locals.
 

Description of initiative in brief

​

Kaimur hills, existing in two districts of Bihar named Rohtas & Kaimur, infamous for the den of Naxal-outfits and desperadoes. There is no electricity, no communication links and no development programmes in reality so far excepect on papers. As demonstration, SULAXMI motivate the local tribals, away from the mainstream of nation, selected a site near Soli village of Piperdih Panchayat. The run-off water of Budhidai rivulet was reserved to use it for agriculture purpose. The small tributaries that covers 100 hectares of land were identifies, got rid off from sand-pebbles-soil-weeds and likes, so that Budhidai can resume more quantity of water. In course of such intiative, the tribals succeeded to develop small water reservoir near about four dozens places. They also developed water-channels that is locally known as nullas, very affective to meet the demands of locals. The villagers began to grow various types of green vegetables including black gram and millet.

Now total number of household benefited with this project is 63. They are Oraon and Kharwar tribes.





The Lungs Chewing Quarries of Rohtas

The plight of stone-cutters, who are tribals, hail from Madhya Pradesh.
 

Objectives  ​

​

To sketch the real picture of stone-cutters, who invested their breath and life to meet both ends only. They are patients of silicosis, fatal for them. This disease eats out their life. The poor labors vomit blood, their bone melt that exudes life water that ultimately makes them cripple. The clusters beside the mines are the den of death demon. The motive of this film is to display the reality and actuality of these stone-cutters.        
 

Description of initiative in brief ​

​

The lungs chewing quarries is the main focus of this film, that depict the saga of 1,700 stone cutters in 14 mines. The film explains the method to break the ribs of mountain through explosion that generally eat out laborers. The film contains the comments of Mrs. Meira Shiva and Late Sh. Anil Aggrawal as well.





National Integration Camp for Tribal Youth

The major issues to be addressed were development of environment of cooperation, mutual confidence, mutual understanding and respect among fellow countryman in the campus as well as the society
 

Objectives â€‹

​

Awareness generation to improve the functional capabilities of tribal youth and to encourage their participation in developmental programmes. Apart from this to bring change in wider knowledge, various attitudes, beliefs, and biases and practices of tribal youth for building a harmonious society.
 

Description of initiative in brief ​

​

Total seven days camp was organized for the youths from Various States collected at the same place in Palamu district. Many healthy discussions and competitions held for development of knowledge for the career development, their traditional beliefs with the scientific reasons behind. Exchange of various ideas and cultural programmes presented by tribal youths as participants of national integration camp. Many lectures were presented to change their knowledge regarding many biases, prejudices etc. The competitions to raise their confidence and sharpen their hidden talent were organized in very healthier manner. At the end of the session all participants were very happy and got many new friends and cultural dimensions, which will reflect in their personality for a long time. Many youths have decided their career also. They got many new friends to exchange ideas for a long time. The tribal youths were able to know about the culture of various states, those are far from the resources like electronic media, print media.





Monographic Study of Asurs of Sakhuapani in Palamu,

To find out the socio economic status of Asur Tribal with their cultural dimensions in the society.
 

Description of initiative in brief​

​

The Asurs are believed to be the subcontinent's first iron smelters, who were driven from the Gangetic plains to the plateau of Chhota Nagpur after that they are forced to do shave by the iron axe due to poor accessibility of resources or economic condition. There is no electricity facility as well as the shortage of water is great deal for them. Threatening picture of poverty can be visualized in the community of Asurs of Sakuapani. Tortures forest laws and officials have made their lives more complicated.





Consumer Rights Awareness Camps in Bihar

Awareness generation about the consumers’ right among the deprived part of the society known as tribal people.
 

Objectives

 

Often tribal people are exploited even as the consumers therefore to eradicate this problem SULAXMI took initiative to make them aware. SULAXMI would like to make them aware about their rights, which they can use in their daily life and be able to speak up to utilize their limited resources in proper manner.

 

Description of initiative in brief ​

​

In Rohtas of Bihar and also in the tribal hamlets of Lohardaga, Trust organized four camps to make aware the consumers about their rights. In these camps, a team consisted of the one senior lawyer, two of this camps, would give proper information regarding consumer rights and they distributed concerned literature.





Meeting on the Problems of tribal women

Tribal women were at low survivals. They were harshly exploited by dominating people in the area.

Objectives  ​

​

To make tribal women awake about their exploitations, and also to make them aware about their rights.


Project details​

​

The meeting was conducted with alliance of NGO ODDYSM. Tribal women’s and organization representatives clubbed ; to take up the issue of tribal women exploitation. The tribal women were the worst suffers. They were living miserable life. At home, their spouse exploited them, for this or that reason. On the other side, they also have to move in jungles for picking up of dry woods and for other household works, where they were badly targeted by jungle officers. So, in such circumstances, a need emerged to integrate tribal women. His platform was provided by SULAXMI through this meeting. This issue was taken up at  large, ideas were exchanged between all.





3 days camps on ‘Nation Integration’

Beneficiaries from 10 villages, of district Palamau took part in the programme. All they were tribals.

Tribal people were unaware about the truth that how much they are important for the nation.  They were innocent, and unknown about their importance. Hence, three days workshop was conducted to make them realize their vitality.

Project Brief ​

​

On December 2, 1997, the Trust organized a three days National Integration camp in Latehar block of Palamau district in Bihar to bring about changes in wider knowledge, various attitudes, beliefs, biases and practice of tribal youth for building a harmonious society. Above all, through which the camp, SULAXMI tried to generate an environment of co-operation, mutual confidence, mutual understanding and respect among fellow countrymen in the campus as well as the society.





Meeting on Health Problem

A good number of Participants took part in the meeting, covering 15 villages of district Palamu.  
 

Major Issues Addressed ​

​

There was a large existence of disease and sickness around the tribal land. Epidemics were very common there. So, there was a big need to awake people for there health. 
 

Objectives​

​

To make an open discussion on prevailing diseases and to make tribals aware about them.
​

Project Details

​

It was a meeting held with tribals. Good number of participants took part in the meeting.  Theme of the meeting lies, to make discussion with villagers about prevailing diseases.
 

Trials were made acknowledged, with causes   various diseases. They were told about clean water & sanitation, Vaccinations of child to protect them from various childhood diseases, Nutritious food, and ways to prevent from diseases like Malaria, Tuberculosis, Chicken pox, and many more, which were prevailing there at high rates.
